Software
The current plant is to leverage NuttX as the operating system, osmocom-bb as the baseband firmware, ed(1) as the standard unix editor and basic user interface and possibly a forth-based shell similar to Open Firmware.
Hardware
MediaTek 626x or newer chipsets are planned to be used because they are being reverse engineered to support NuttX and osmocom-bb. Current devices to play with are Fernvale, SIM800 modules, watch phones like DZ-09. The eventual goal is to custom design a printed circuit board and enclosure that people can either buy from unreasonable farm or produce by themselves with PCB print services and 3-D printers. The price goal is $35.
